Bramalea Free Methodist Church
VISION STATEMENT
Let Christ reign in our personal lives, our families, our church and our community,
thereby allowing everyone to experience God's grace,
because where Christ reigns, salvation comes, healing happens, hope rises, and grace abounds.
Personal Mission:
“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.”
1 Corinthians 12:27
Our assumption is that each person is the church and represents Christ in his/her own unique way in the home, neighbourhood and places of work. The church recognizes that personal witness is one of the ways of extending Christ’s kingdom in the world.
Mission of the Larger Church
There is also the mission of the Christ’s people together as a larger community called the church.
BFMC’s mission is local and global.
“Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and to the ends of the earth”
Acts 1:8
Jerusalem: We share the Gospel with those nearby: friends, neighbours, who live in our own Jerusalem.
Judea: the city of Brampton
Samaria: Samaria represents people who are close but of different cultures.
The Ends of the Earth: World missions.
BFMC Core Values
The core values of BFMC are those values we which form the foundation on which we work. These values are not our goals but how we interact with each other and the community and the strategies we use to fulfill our MISSION
1. Persons: All persons are made in the image of God and possess intrinsic worth. All persons have a need to know Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord. All persons can be saved and begin a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. All persons have unique gifts to contribute to the kingdom.
2. Worship: Our first calling is to worship God. We are committed to worship that enables us to experience the presence of Jesus Christ.
3. Prayer: We are committed to prayer.
4. Biblical Teaching: We are committed to Biblical teaching that transforms lives.
5. Church: The Christian community is the foundation for the growth of the kingdom of God on earth. The Christian community is the primary context for developing believers. The Christian community is to minister in Jesus’ name to all people. The Christian community is to worship and serve God.
6. Community: We recognize that the Christian community exists to proclaim in the name of Jesus, the good news of the kingdom of God. We exist “to preach good news to the poor, to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." Luke 4:18-19
The church understands that it must be a cross-cultural missionary people and adopt a missionary stance in relation to the community
The church is intentional about both its witness to those outside the community of faith and how its life together gives people a glimpse of God’s new reality.
7. Cultural Diversity: We recognize and celebrate our differences in God’s love. The gospel of Christ is relevant to all peoples and nations and should be presented in a culturally sensitive way. The Governing Board encourages the church family to be intentional in including people of all cultures in its governance and activities.
8. Team work: Teamwork demonstrates the diversity of spiritual gifts. Teamwork recognizes that the extension of God’s kingdom comes through cooperation and effort. It recognizes our dependence on God and each other. Teamwork maximizes the resources of the church. Team work builds Christian community.
9. Integrity: Integrity is grounded in the character of God. Integrity establishes a framework for all relations. The church expects that members will live by Christ’s teaching of grace, honesty, forgiveness and love.
10. Growth: The Scriptures call for very church to grow. The church calls for the evangelization of the unreached. The Scriptures call for very believer to grow in grace and knowledge of Christ. The Scriptures call for every believer to participate in the growth of the church.
11. Generosity: God is generous to us…we should be generous with others in all things. God is glorified when we are generous. God’s love is demonstrated to others through our generosity.
12. Excellence: We strive for excellence is all our endeavours.
